API Testing with Postman

Postman is a great tool that every API Developer should have in their toolkit. Developers use the application to build modern software for the API-first world. I want to show how easy it is to start getting responses from the Neobi API using Postman.

If you haven't already, please sign up for a Free account in the Developer portal. Also, download the latest copy of Postman so you can follow along.

1) Register an Application with Neobi

To obtain a ‘client_id’ and ‘client_secret’, you must register an Application in the Developer portal:

Once we receive and approve your request, you will get an email with the ID and secret. Keep these safe and do not let anyone access them.

2) Use Postman to get an Authentication Token

In the Postman application, choose POST as the type and send a request to the following authorization endpoint:

https://login.microsoftonline.com/4bf81f4b-8e8b-4b76-9ad7-232c8b879eea/oauth2/token

Add these Key / Value pairs to the Body of the request and you should get a response with an access token / bearer:

Access token

Hit SEND and you should receive a response with several values including a bearer token which you can copy and use in any subsequent Requests.
